 Postdoc Fei Fang was awarded the best USC Viterbi dissertation award for 2017 – the [William F. Ballhaus, Jr. Prize for Excellence in Graduate Engineering Research.](https://gapp.usc.edu/students/doctoral-students/awards/william-f-ballhaus-prize-excellence-graduate-engineering-research)

 Her work on how best to deploy limited security resources is aiding the U.S. Coast Guard and even protecting endangered tigers in Malaysia.
