I’m a computer scientist studying the impacts of algorithmic decision-making on society. I completed my PhD in 2021 at Cornell University, where I was incredibly fortunate to be advised by Jon Kleinberg. I’ll be an assistant professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science starting Fall 2022.My research seeks to understand the design and deployment of algorithmic decision-making systems with a particular focus on how these systems affect society, drawing on perspectives from economics, sociology, and the law. In the past, this has included studying algorithms and techniques used in hiring, lending, and the criminal justice system. Ultimately, I hope to help realize the societal benefits algorithms can bring while highlighting and mitigating their risks.
